Our company

AREP is an interdisciplinary architecture practice,  a subsidiary of SNCF Gares & Connexions

Founded in 1997 within SNCF (the French national rail operator) by Jean-Marie Duthilleul and Etienne Tricaud -both architects and engineers- AREP Group delivers projects on different scales going from large metropolitan areas and urban districts to individual buildings and street furniture.

Our reputation is based on our ability to conceive and create multi-modal stations in dense urban areas, in other words mobility-related spaces housing complex uses and facing challenging technical and heritage issues. Building on this knowledge, AREP can provide effective solutions for other types of public spaces.

AREP brings together 900 people and more than 30 nationalities, professionals from diverse disciplines: architects, urban planners, designers, engineers, economists, architectural programming consultants and construction operations managers.

We offer our expertise in all areas of city planning and construction: multimodal hubs and railway stations, public amenities, offices, hotels and housing, shopping centres and technical facilities.

AREP is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SNCF - Gares & Connexions Unit.

It is structured around four main subsidiaries, headed up by a holding company:

  • AREP : project management services in France
  • PARVIS: project management assistance and architectural and urban planning services
  • AREP Ville: architectural and urban studies in France and abroad

By expanding its activities abroad, AREP broadens its areas of practice and refines its skills to provide its French and foreign clients with in-depth expertise and a fresh perspective for each project
Brian Wait, International Group Director

AREP Group operates throughout the country and thanks to its subsidiaries AREP Ville, PARVIS stays close to its clients: local authorities, public and private companies, managers etc..

Our multidisciplinary approach along with a mix of receptiveness and innovation enabled the Group to develop its activities at international level. In 2000, AREP won the competition for the Gwang Myeong station in South Korea and set up its first office in Asia.

It was before the competitions for Shanghai South station or the Beijing museum in China.

In China, AREP has been operating for more than 18 years.
Our international development continued in Southeast Asia, and more precisely in Vietnam and Indonesia, and then in India and Russia.

Our major projects include the Financial Tower in Ho Chi Minh City, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal in Mumbai or the Skolkovo Innovation Centre near Moscow.

More recently, AREP Group successfully exported its expertise and knowledge in the Middle East (Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia) and in Morocco (Casa Port station).
