Al Muntalaq station, which in Arabic means "starting point", is one of the major multi-modal hubs of the new Jeddah transport network (accommodating two metro lines, buses and taxi drop-off areas).

It is located in the heart of the city, in the area which once hosted the old airport and where AREP developed an urban project including the new transport hub in 2010. Started by Almax and RNL and finalized by AREP, the interchange hub study also includes offices, retail, leisure facilities, an upscale hotel with 210 rooms and an IMAX theatre.
