A new iconic tower

Client: LUSAIL Real estate development company
This was AREP’s entry into an international design competition for an iconic tower structure to be constructed on the tip of a narrow curving peninsula in the new Lusail district of Qatar, guarding the entry to a harbor and yacht club.
This tower structure was intended to become the iconic focus of the new Lusail City. AREP’s proposal called for the construction of a 380-metre tall steel and glass structure in the shape of a self-supporting water-drop. The proposal would comprise a total of 126 000 m², 80 000 m² luxury hotel, shops, gardens, cultural spaces, restaurants, disco bar and a 6 000 m² theatre, all atop a 4-level, 40 000m² underground structure supporting parking and service activities.
