The station has been designed to support the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and forms a major interchange hub on the high-speed rail line connecting Beijing to Zhangjiakou as well as part of the transport scheme for the megalopolis of Jin Jin Ji.
The high-speed rail line connecting Beijing to Zhangjiakou has been designed to support the organisation of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Qinghe train station constitutes a major interchange hub on this new high-speed rail line.
Qinghe train station is located in the north-east of Beijing, at the edge of the fifth ring road, where once stood one of the stations of the first rail line designed. The immediate environment of the project is complex as the existing rail tracks and viaducts for the metro lines and the motorway fragment the city.
The project is designed to fit the environment in the best way and meets the challenges of accessibility, intermodality, fluidity, safety, image and urban development.

Passengers arriving by train go directly from each platform to the interchange hall built under the railway platform (9 tracks), just above the platforms of the 2 underground subway lines. The 17,500 sq. m. facility provides an easy interface with all modes of public and individual transport, as well as links to adjacent neighbourhoods.

To the west, the facade is glassed down to the ground to open onto a large pedestrian square that slides under the viaducts and offers distant views towards the Xishan mountain. To the east, the glass facade is supported by a mineral plinth that faces the residential area.

The west façade emphasizes the vertical composition and reflects the sense of strength and stability.
Combined with the roof, the overall form is similar to traditional Beijing architecture.
The combination of the building facade and the structure, integrating the structure into the building facade, enhances the logic and aesthetics of the project.
To the east, the glass facade is supported by a mineral plinth that faces the residential area.

The geometry of the structure is simple, precisely regulated by structural principles that are easy to implement and economical.

Qinghe Station adopts a number of green building and energy-saving measures, including :

  • roof skylight,
  • tubular daylighting system for platform floor,
  • reclaimed water circulation and reserve,
  • magnetic suspension air-conditioning system,
  • inductive automatic adjustment louvers on the west façade and so on.
It has received the three-star certification of green buildings for railway and LEED gold design certification.
